The 2002 “Come Together” in Oslo brought together artists such as Miriam Makeba, some of the Norwegian artists at the show were: Erik Bye, Torhild Sivertsen, Steinar Albrigtsen, Tom Pachenko, Cheb Hocine, Raya & her Gipsy Legacy, TV personality Synnøve Svarbø TV personality Tande P. Mr.G.P.S Ngcobo. The Former Prime minister of Norway Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, the South African Embassy, Zambian Embassy represented by Mr. Teddy Simakungwe, the General Secretary of Norwegian Red Cross, the General Secretary of the Norwegian Church Aid gave speeches at the concert.
Nicknamed Mama Africa, Miriam Makeba was a South African Grammy winning singer and civil rights activist. She was the first artist from Africa to popularize African music around the globe. She is best known for her song “Pata Pata”and she recorded and toured with many popular artists, such as Paul Simon and Harry Belafonte.
